ORMOC CITY TOURISM
Ormoc City is being adjudged as the 2005 Most Business-Friendly City in the Visayas by the prestigious Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry and it has also keep attuned to its environmental protection programs as evident in being a consistent Cleanest and Greenest City awardee in Region VIII and one of the Cleanest and Greenest City in the country.

WWII Veterans & Centennial Park
The Veteran's Park was constructed in the early 1990's in honor of the Filipino soldiers who fought for the liberation of Leyte and the Philippines.
The Centennial Marker was erected in 1998 to commemorate the 100th year independence of the Philippines. One gets a good view of the bay, the port and the plaza from this vantage point. It is a favorite rendezvous for the young and old alike for picnic, leisurely strolls on its verdant lawn.


Lake Danao
Lake Danao is a violin shaped lake 3 km long at an elevation of 2,100 feet (640 m) above sea level. There are floating cottages & boats available for hire. A viewing deck and a circumferential walk-trail is an added facilities for tourist to enjoy.
In 1973, the lake was renamed after Imelda in honor of former first lady Marcos. It was declared as Lake Imelda National Park with Barangay Lake Danao organized people's organization taking care of the lake and tourist arrivals.

Flash Flood Mass Grave Memorial
A beautiful monument can be found at the Ormoc City public cemetery which is set atop the mass grave of the victims of the Ormoc flash flood in November 5, 1991. More than 20 years have passed since the tragic event that took nearly 8,000 lives. It is also known that there is but an estimated 4,900 victims buried at the mass grave at the Ormoc City public cemetery.
The marker depicts the life taken to heaven, whose face is abstract, since “a dead person turns (to) soul, (with) no physical identity,” said sculptor Francis Cinco of Calbayog, Samar.

Sts. Peter & Paul Church
The oldest church in the city way back in 1556, when the Jesuits first set foot in Ormoc that marks the prelude to centuries of Christian evangelization in Ormoc. A month after Ormoc became a municipality on Feb. 26, 1834, the Ormoc Catholic Parish with Saints Peter and Paul as its patron was formally inaugurated.
The church had recently undergone a major renovation in preparation of being converted into a cathedral. The church’s golden main altar & beautifully painted interior enhance to its overall appeal that draws more churchgoers and devotees.




EDC Geothermal Plant View Deck
The country’s largest geothermal powerhouse and the virtual linchpin in the national electric highway throughout the entire archipelago. The production field lies in a 2,224 hectares area within the 107,625 hectares reservation. Its five (5) power plants produce 708 megawatts geothermal capacity which is 37% of the estimated gross potential reserves of the country at 5,000 megawatts. It accounts 60% of the country’s installed capacity of 1,911 megawatts.
